Remember · Connect · Act

An encounter can stay with us.

We bring people together so that remembering the Holocaust becomes a responsibility we live today.

The idea behind Würdesache

Würdesache means “a matter of dignity”.

Every person. Part of a whole.

Würdesache brings together people who carry remembrance forward and stand up for one another. Our pomegranate mosaic expresses this connection.

A contemporary interpretation inspired by synagogue mosaics.
01

Knowledge

Educators and young people gain historical grounding, language, and critical judgment.

02

Humanity

Protect dignity, listen to one another, and make room for belonging.

03

Action

Recognize exclusion, support those affected, and take responsibility together.

“Human dignity shall be inviolable.”

These words need people who live by them. In schools. In encounters. In everyday life.

  • Strengthen education
  • Enable encounter
  • Share responsibility

Encounters that carry forward

A voice stays with us.

The encounters and their stories

These documented encounters took place before Würdesache was founded. They inform our work, but were not projects of the new association.

Survivor encounter at Mittelschule Kaufering

Avigdor Neumann and Max Volpert spoke with Class 8A about persecution and survival. The school documented the historical context and the conversation with students.

Listening. Asking. Connecting.

7 October 2026Looking back · Augsburg

One life story. So many questions.

At Maria-Theresia-Gymnasium, Avigdor Neumann shared his life story with students. They listened, asked questions and stayed to speak with him afterwards. In the evening, people came together at Augsburg Town Hall.

Looking back on the week of the visit
Looking back · Germany and Austria

What stays with us.

Avigdor’s visit brought people together for conversation and remembrance in Germany and Austria. After Augsburg, the exchange continued in Munich. We hope to build on these encounters, including through video conversations.

Stay in touch
Next steps · in developmentWhat we hope will grow

We are developing lasting work with schools: preparation, shared experiences and meaningful follow-up. Dates, funding and partnerships are still being arranged.

Carry stories forward
Personal encounters and educationally guided VR testimonies can bring history closer. Conversations with descendants of survivors may open further perspectives. Preparation, choice and discussion are essential; equipment and licensing arrangements are still being developed.
Learn together at places of remembrance
We plan guided educational journeys, initially around Munich/Dachau and Linz/Mauthausen/Gusen. Preparation and a subsequent school project will help deepen the experience. No dates are available for booking yet.
Let young people shape remembrance
Young people should be able to create their own remembrance days, biographical exhibitions, audio walks or workshops. Teachers and educators will support them from the first question to shared reflection.
Remember with dignity
Commemorations and careful preservation of remembrance sites should involve families, Jewish communities and responsible institutions. Religious traditions and the dignity of those who died come first. No specific new measures have been agreed yet.

Growing with schools

So an encounter keeps making a difference.

A conversation can open something up. Together with teachers, we want to turn that moment into learning that continues in everyday school life.

Get involved
01

Prepare.

We want to help teachers and students explore the history and prepare their own questions.

02

Meet.

Personal stories should open a space to listen, ask questions and understand.

03

Carry it forward.

Students’ own projects should help the encounter live on in everyday school life.

How we want to work with schools
School programmes in development · Help shape them
  • From primary school: dignity, belonging and respectful language
  • Focused remembrance education from grade 9
How we hope to work together
Format
We are developing ongoing support: teacher training, classroom preparation, an encounter or educational journey, and a project afterwards. Scope and duration will be agreed with each school.
Timing
Schools can enquire about Monday–Friday during school hours. Dates are confirmed only by mutual agreement.
Costs
In the first year, we aim to make the programs free for schools through external funding. This depends on funding being secured. Contributions toward later programs are envisaged; terms have not yet been set.
Specialist guidance
Past specialist advice has informed our thinking. We are seeking qualified support for further development; no ongoing specialist partnerships are currently confirmed.

Carrying stories forward

A story brought closer.

Virtual testimonies can open a door. Talking together helps us make sense of the experience.

Film, background and group enquiries
An introduction to the existing “Avigdor” project in Israel. Our educational use in Germany is in development.

VR encounters for schools and groups

Associations, youth groups, congregations and other organized groups can also enquire about an educationally guided screening with VR headsets. We discuss the audience, group size, venue, equipment, costs, preparation and follow-up personally. An enquiry is not a booking confirmation; an offer follows once use and delivery arrangements are agreed. For minors, focused remembrance education is intended from grade 9.

The full VR film “Avigdor” was produced by Triumph of the Spirit (Nitzcha Haruach). Würdesache is preparing its educational use in Germany with the relevant rights holders; a formal use and operating agreement has not yet been concluded.

What the video shows

The clip shows Avigdor Neumann at a project presentation, in conversation, and in the context of a VR demonstration. Other participants try the headsets. This introduces an existing implementation in Israel; it is neither the full 360° film nor a completed Würdesache school program.

The original clip is hosted directly on this website. No autoplay and no external video player.

What we are building

From listening to taking action.

Support teachers

Confidence with difficult questions

We are developing training on antisemitism, Holocaust education and human dignity. Teachers should gain confidence in discussion, recognise exclusion and support those affected. Our support is intended to extend beyond a single seminar.

Help young people take action

Their ideas. Shared responsibility.

We plan seminars and projects shaped by young people: a remembrance day, an exhibition or an audio walk. They should discover what their own actions can mean. Values education can begin in primary school; focused historical remembrance education is intended from grade 9.

Visit places of remembrance together

Educational journeys with preparation and reflection

Historical places raise questions that deserve time. We are developing guided journeys, initially to Munich/Dachau and Linz/Mauthausen/Gusen, linked to subsequent school projects. Dates and funding remain open.

Keep life stories present

Listen to people. Carry remembrance forward.

Personal encounters and educationally guided VR testimonies can help keep life stories accessible to young people. Careful preparation and reflection remain essential. Using the VR film depends on licensing agreements and funding that are still to be arranged.

Make more possible together

Schools, remembrance sites and supporters

We welcome people and institutions who wish to contribute knowledge, time, connections or funding. New cooperation will be developed together; no partnership is presumed.

Supporters

People who encourage us.

About this personal support

Avigdor Neumann and Bila Nuiman personally support this purpose. Their encouragement helps us turn remembrance into responsibility.

Personal, signed statements dated 2 September 2026. They do not constitute an institutional partnership or a commitment to specialist advice.
Support Würdesache

“Remembrance has meaning when it strengthens respect, responsibility and humanity in the present.”
